Closing Ford – Tamil Nadu– Ford has announced that it will close its plants in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It is learned that this decision has been taken due to non-sale of cars manufactured by the company.
It is reported that cars like Ford’s EcoSport, Ford Endeavor and Figo Car are not for sale. Ford has also said that it intends to import and sell foreign cars in India.
Chennai Ford Manufacturing Start in 1996
Ford’s first manufacturing unit in India was located in the Maraimalai Nagar area of Chennai. The company’s manufacturing facility was established in 1996. The company was located in an area of about 400 acres.
5000 crores was invested in it. Produced in India in the form of 4,40,000 cars and 6,10,000 engines per year. It is in this context that Ford withdrew, citing the fact that the cars are not for sale.
